The "it's so over" crowd could not be more wrong about the impact AI will have on the world. Competition is going to show up in a very narrow way (by a very small group of people), rather than in a very broad way (the proclaimed "everyone is going to build with AI").
I wholeheartedly agree that agency matters, but I'd add two things: agency without feedback loops is just activity, and the timeline for these tools to fully mature may be longer than we think. AI echoes prior tech revolutions - the IT revolution took decades to fully materialize. The edge isn't just "do things now," it's iterating patiently while the world figures out how to integrate this stuff.
